COURSES QUESTIONS

You must create a profile to access courses on the .Stat Academy. This enables us to provide you with an enhanced and personalised experience.

The .Stat Academy supports the training needs of Data Producers and Data Toolers to develop the skills needed to use and support the .Stat Suite, from installation to designing SDMX data models

Each course has been designed to build your knowledge and skills over time, geared towards your goal. Courses have been categorised and tagged according to the topic and learning level e.g. foundation level.

Yes, explore a typical and recommended learning path for the Data Tooler and Data Producer.

No, course are free. However, you have to register and be logged in to take courses.

After logging in, go to your profile and click on the ‘Completed’ tab.

Yes, after logging in go to your profile and current courses that are still active can be found under the ‘All’ tab.

Yes, for all courses you complete with a pass you will be issued with a certification of completion.

No, certificates are only generated to show a successful completion and have no official affiliation.

When logged in click on My Profile from the main menu and you will see a tab labeled Wishlist under which you will find all the courses you have added.

After creating a profile or logging into your account you will see a heart appear on the course image as well as a Wishlist button on the course description page. By selecting or unselecting this the course will be added or removed from your wishlist.

If you enrolled in a course by mistake or changed your mind after enrolling, then please send an email to academy@siscc.org providing the name of the course you wish to be unenrolled from.

After clicking the complete button at the foot of the course, or for some items (e.g. Check your knowledge quiz) the finish button, the grey tick next to the corresponding lesson will change to white on a green circle. Only when all course items are showing as being complete will you be able to finish the course and receive a certificate of completion.

For most courses lessons are opened sequentially and only after completing the previous lesson will the next one be unlocked with the padlock icon changing to a grey tick icon.

Yes, for some larger courses covering a more complex subject, course modules are chunked and published over a period of time e.g. 1-2 modules per week.

and on [Date and time]

For courses that are published in chunks, an announcement by email will be sent to all enrolled users. Information about new content including course updates are regularly shared via our twitter channel and LinkedIn group.

SITE USE QUESTIONS

Click on Login and click the 'Forgot password' link, completing the necessary fields. You should receive an email with the instructions to reset your password. Please check your junk folder in case it does not arrive.

If you are having trouble with the platform and/or your account please send an email to academy@siscc.org with a full description and screenshots if possible and one of the team will get back to you as soon as possible.

If you wish to make a complaint or report a possible abuse of the .Stat Academy terms, then please contact report@siscc.org.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

The Statistical Information System Collaboration Community (SIS-CC) is the maintainer of the .Stat Academy bringing together activities where the Community supports the building of capacities to enable wider and quicker usage of .Stat Suite.

The .Stat Academy is open to everyone and creating an account is free.

Yes, your data is important to us and is stored on secure servers. For European users this follows the GDPR compliance rules. No financial information is stored or shared with us, and is only transmitted between your device and the merchant to process payment for courses that are not free.

.Stat Academy webinars use the Zoom platform and can be joined from within the browser or through the desktop app if you have it installed.

The .Stat Suite is a standard-based, componentised, open source platform for the efficient production and dissemination of high-quality statistical data. Find out more.

SDMX, which stands for Statistical Data and Metadata eXchange is an international initiative that aims at standardising and modernising (“industrialising”) the mechanisms and processes for the exchange of statistical data and metadata among international organisations and their member countries.

The source code is available on Gitlab with each service having its own repository and associated documentation.

Yes, the Community defines a product roadmap every year aligned to its Strategic Directions. The flight planner is available here.

INSTRUCTOR QUESTIONS

Yes, you are able to take courses and if you are new to the platform then we strongly encourage you to take an existing course to familiarise yourself with the design of course material. This will also help you see courses from the learners perspective and help you in future course creation.

Yes, if you are the assigned instructor (author) of the course you will receive an email notification confirming the enrollment. You will also find the total number of students enrolled in your course(s) from within your profile page.

All material you submit must be your own work, or attributed to the originating author. The SIS-CC ("Community") is not responsible for any copyright infringement or intellectual property rights claims.

All instructors are expected to uphold the Community spirit: friendly, open, and provide encouragement to the learners. This also includes continuing to follow activity of your courses and respond to comments posted by members of the Community.

Yes, there is a Train the Trainers course available to registered instructors that takes you through the steps from conceptualising to publishing courses in the .Stat Academy.

Before an instructor is confirmed and can start creating content, including courses, they must complete the Train the Trainers course.
